went out

out.
that's right...out-out.

one of my gal pals is having a birthday, tomorrow, so we went 'out-out' last night.
started the evening off with some sushi and drinks then across the street to hear the plumbers play. what a blast! we danced until the lights came on and it was 'last call'.
i can honestly say that i do not recall the last time that i did that.
everything has changed since 'way back then'. except the music...strangely enough, most of these songs were playing in the clubs when i was a freshman/sophomore in college. did i just date myself? oh well, who cares. i'll be 32 mid-july. 32. and last night, as we entered the club, paid the cover and got our hands stamped with the obnoxious ink that doesn't wash off right away, i was asked, 'Can i see your ID?'
those 5 sweet little words that one can only hope for but never really expects.
'can i see your ID?'
me?
'uh huh, i need to see your ID.'
obso-frackin-lutely!

definitely a highlight, but not the best part of the entire evening.
i had a blast...
but, honestly, i'm not sure how frequently my body could handle 'out-out'.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG T!!!!

i was leary...

of posting from my office...not sure that blogger is an okay site to be on as far as my company is concerned. then i noticed as i passed on my way to the bathroom, the guy across the hall from me was shopping on eBay. so, maybe i don't need to be too concerned about getting on here and posting occasionally.

not that i have anything interesting to say when i'm working...

where does she get this stuff...

yesterday, the girl started swimming lessons. the session is for two weeks, tuesday thru friday for 40 minutes. today, she was so excited about going to swimming that she didn't even want to go to hobby lobby! she wanted to go straight to her class and her teacher, about whom she kept saying 'i just love my class, i just love my teacher.' before we went in the bldg she even asked, 'am i still with the same teacher?...'cause i really like my teacher.'
half way through her lesson, they decided she was ready to be advanced to the next swim level! good job! that's great! ummmm...no.
she didn't want to leave her class or her teacher that she just met yesterday. she likes her that much.
so, we made a big deal about it...'good job! that means you're a good swimmer! i'm sooo proud!' not sure it made much of a difference, she still wanted to go back to the other class...
then, i called her daddy to tell him the great news...again making a huge deal about how great it was, and when i got off the phone with him she asked, 'was he screaming like a girl?'

random-not-so-interesting-things i've been exposed to today...

a) today is 'gas out' day...the day when you're not supposed to buy gas so that we can all 'teach the big oil guys a lesson'. yeah, right. considering the consistent rise in gasoline prices, i don't think its working. if you haven't gotten the email or heard about this, its been going on since the 90's. so, this was a topic of discussion, briefly, on the radio this morning and i couldn't help but laugh out loud as i drove in to the office.
today i am thankful for a morning show that could make me laugh.
p.s. i filled both of my tanks yesterday, but not because of this. i heard a rumor that gas was going up $.20 today.

b)the longer i sit at my desk in the morning the more sleepy i become. this morning i broke down and went to get some coffee, 1/2-caff since i don't normally consume anything with caffeine in it. hoping that would wake me up in time for my 9am meeting. on the way to the break room i noticed a gentleman 2 cubes down is having breakfast...a Dr. Pepper and some grapes. my first thought was, 'he'll be in the bathroom before lunch'...or maybe that would just be me.

3)its not always about location, location, location. today its about timing. "timing is everything" ...about that, i'm not sure. lately its been off, the timing of opportunities. the timing may not have been right about this job, it didn't fit my timeline, it didn't happen when i wanted it to. and because of that it made me think twice about whether i wanted it to happen at all. the timing wasn't right, but everything else was. change is the thing that's hard to cope with...it doesn't matter how much i tell myself that 'if the timing was right i'd be more prepared to handle the change'. i wouldn't be. things will work themselves out...in time.

4)tick. tick. tick. come on!!! a man's fingernails do NOT need to be clipped every frackin' day!!! the next time you open that drawer and reach for the clippers they may not be there. be a little courteous, please!

5)Keith and the Girl could not be more entertaining. if you haven't yet, you should listen.

z) i miss my girl. she wasn't feeling well yesterday and i was out, and today i just want more time to sit with her.
