Dreams...

last night i had a terrible dream.
now, i don't usually remember my dreams, i'm not sure i actually dream that often...this one was different. i think it was brought on by the fact that yesterday, i was over at this blog reading about dreams.
anyway, terrible dream.
woke with a sick feeling.
last time i had a dream like that was when i was pregnant; you know how vivid dreams are then...anyway. glad i don't do that often.

Off to school...

Yesterday was 'back-to-school' day. The girl started pre-K. I think she's going to enjoy it, but she told me she didn't want to go every day. I told her she could take the weekends off; that sounded reasonable to her.
the line to pick up the kiddos is forever long. i was there on the first day at 3:08, school is out at 3:30. i finally left the parking lot at 3:48. two lanes of parents waiting...all cars running, the temperature on my car read 132 degrees...and climbed to a steamy 140 while i waited in the sea of SUVs and their big hot engines.
so today i arrived at the school at 2:45. and left at 3:35. at one point my car was off and my window down, the heat was only registering 113...not too bad! so now, after only 2 days, there will be a new 'divided' pickup plan...anything will be an improvement.

Ricci?

when i was in high school, which was too long ago to even try to recall, people used to say that i looked like Christina Ricci. Now, keep in mind, it has been nearly 15 years, so it would be the 'Addams Family' Ricci, or 'Casper'. I am 5 years her senior and most people in Hollywood age better than 'real' people, but i just don't see it...

what do you think?


If i could chose which Ricci to be (look like, rather), i think it would be this one...
not an easy look to pull off in the pre-K carpool lane.

The girl was showing off her new bracelets...she is such a girl. I've never known a girl who is more 'girlie' than she. love her.


random thoughts...

thinking about starting a new {21} challenge journal when school starts, can't decide if i want to wait until the first full week or what.

trying to get organized. need to backup my pics for the past couple of months, and get some prints made for use.

still looking for a few things that were misplaced in the move, in April, that's right...still no luck finding MY JEWELRY BOX. good thing i don't keep anything of value it in, huh?

been listening to some music from back in the day...1999 to be exact. doesn't seem so far back, but it was SEVEN years ago. where does time go...

E's cousin is coming home today...classes start this week. can't wait to figure out what his schedule is going to be.

this saturday is date night, i think, i need to check my calendar...need to find something to do, nothing's playing at the show, maybe something comes out this friday?

took a trip to houston earlier in the month; only took 43 pics! i usually have hundreds!

These boots were made for...

the girl...a new pair of boots for fall.

Sangria Blanca ...yum-o

Saw this recipe on Mad Mary's blog, said it was a hit...think i might try to make them for the next get-together i have at my place! I'll let ya know how they are.

Sangria Blanca

2 bottles dry white, such as sauvignon blanc
1/2 cup Spanish sherry
1/2 cup orange-flavored liqueur (recommended: Cointreau)
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 bunch seedless white grapes
1 lemon, unpeeled and sliced
2 peaches, unpeeled, pitted, and sliced
1/2 honeydew, peeled, seeded, and diced
1/2 liter club soda

Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved.
Serve immediately, or if making in advance, refrigerate up to 24 hours,
and then add the club soda just before serving.
